The lines

The lines, the lines

Oh what a wait

They go here they go there

They crisscross everywhereImage result for disney world linesAs you wait the children cry

Most of the parents just want to die

But what is this there’s some hope

Were moving were moving

Oh were so close

Yet we stop before we move an inch

There just been another hitch

Oh why oh why can’t they just go

I should have been at school an hour ago

As the other go by I’m still in the line

Finally we start to go but I’m out of time

Greek immigration

It is Wednesday March first and this is my fourth blog. For the passed couple of days my class has been reading the teacher who changed my life its about a boy and his family trying to enter the United States to escape the Greek Communist guerrillas. After finishing the story I got to thinking why did they have to sneak out of the country could they not legally leave. I started research and found some pretty interesting things.

The story is set around 1944 just after the Greek civil war starting. The Germanys had just pulled out of Greece and two Greek guerrilla forces the EAM-ELAS (“National Liberation Front–National Popular Liberation Army”) and EDES (“Greek Democratic National Army”) where in power struggle. My best guess is the village that the family lived in was located in the north mountains were the EAM-ELAS set up there base. The EAM-ELAS took over the area and sent the residents to a prison camp and that is where they escaped. So in conclusion immigrants were allowed to leave the country but this family had to leave under other circumstances.

The freezing point of a dog

Today I read the passage “to build a fire” it was about a man and a native husky “pepper” scouring the Yukon in search for a mining camp. In the story Pepper didn’t seem the least bit effected by cold. This got me to thinking why is it that? At first I thought it was because of it’s fur but that would only help so much and with it being seventy-five below zero there had to be something else to it. So after pondering for while I started to research.

After looking through tons of research paper I finally saw some facts that keep showing up. The first fact is cold weather dogs are like humans in the sense that they have evolved through time they have adapted to there environments. The second fact is that they have a survival instinct they know how long they can survive in certain temperatures, what they need to do if they get wet, and etc. And the final fact I found was cold weather dogs are basically the same as camels they store fat for long hauls and for warmth. Those are some of the reasons why certain breeds such as the Alaskan malamute, Bernese mountain dog, and the chow chow can survive freezing cold weather.
